Double Kameeta

 Double kameetha is a dish mainly made of bread, sugar and milk and a popular dessert from Hyderabad. 


Here is one recipe. 

Ingredients:

- 1 cup bread slices (white or brown bread)

- 2 cups milk

- 1 cup sugar

- 1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)

- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, and pistachios)

- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder

- Saffron strands for garnishing

Instructions:

1. Trim the edges of the bread slices and cut them into small cubes.

2. Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan and fry the bread cubes until they turn golden brown. Remove them from the pan and set them aside.

3. In the same pan, add milk, sugar, and cardamom powder. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to low.

4. Add the fried bread cubes to the milk mixture and stir well.

5. Cook the mixture on low heat for about 10-15 minutes until the milk has thickened and the bread cubes have absorbed the milk.

6. Add the chopped nuts and mix well.

7. Remove from heat and let it cool down to room temperature.

8. Garnish with saffron strands and serve chilled.
