Here is Dal Tadka recipe, that is a staple dish. It is usually served with rice or roti.
Take one cup of toor dal and soak it in enough water for 20 minutes minimum. After that rinse it very well and pressure cook for one or two whistles. If you want soft dal you can cook for two to three whistles. Once done, then open the lid and add a little bit of turmeric and salt and saute it so that it loses its raw taste, if there is still any. Cook until it is thick and serve it with hot rice ghee and papadums. You can now add some tadka to it. If you can eat, add diced onion , green chilies along with tadka, and serve with Roti.
