Undrallu is a must have dish for Hindu festival, Ganesh Chathurdhi and many other occasations also.
It is a very simple and healthy recipe.
As told my grandma,
1. Wash rice , a day before and pat it and dry on a towel.
2. Once completely dry, grind it coarse. You do not need to sieve it if you are short on time, but you need to take more care when cooking. See step 4.
3. Soak a table spoon of chana dal in hot water , for 30 minutes.
4. Once you get the rava, that is the coarse ground rice, cook it along with water, taking ratio of 1 cup rava to one and half water and soaked chana dal. Cook until raw rawa is cooked, mixing in between ,making sure no lumps are formed. If you have soft rice powder, you are likely to get lumps.
5. Cool it until just enough hot to handle. This is important. Then take help of a bit of ghee and make nice round balls.
That's it all it takes to make undrallu!!
You can now be creative and add other grains or quinoa to them as well.
