Spice Powders - 3 dishes


Indian recipe collection is not complete without some chutneys and pickles and curry powders. 

It is a favorite combination that is enjoyed by many Indians - Fresh hot rice, Pickle, and sesame oil and curd / butter on the side. Or fresh rice and curry powder and yogurt. 

Putnala Podi (Spiced Dalia Powder)

This is my dad's favorite and my grandpa's and my great grandpa's. For Krishnashtami, one of the rice dishes is made with this powder. 

It is a very simple recipe. Take putnalu (dalia / roasted chana), roast them. roast some red chili in little oil, along with a spoon of cumin seeds and garlic is optional. If using garlic, fry until they are not raw anymore. Mix in a grinder to a fine powder and enjoy delicious podi with rice, idli and on dosa !!!
